Inspired by the exhibition The Prints of Sam Gilliam, this engaging professional development workshop invites educators to explore how experimentation, collaboration, and creative risk-taking can transform teaching across disciplines. Participants will begin with a guided tour and discussion of the exhibit, focusing on Gilliam’s innovative approach to printmaking and abstraction. In the studio, teachers will gain hands-on printmaking experience, experimenting with layering, texture, and unconventional materials to create their own works. Designed for elementary through high school educators, this workshop offers adaptable, classroom-ready strategies that emphasize process, creativity, and student engagement.
