Citizen Science in Action: Using Nature-Based Apps to Teach Science 2026
Citizen Science in Action: Using Nature-Based Apps to Teach Science 2026
Take the next step in outdoor science teaching with this hands-on workshop focused on nature-based citizen science apps. Teachers will learn to use iNaturalist/Seek, Nature’s Notebook, GLOBE Observer, and Merlin/eBird to help students make observations, collect real data and contribute to national scientific databases. We’ll explore how these tools support inquiry, evidence-based reasoning, and local biodiversity investigations—whether in a schoolyard, neighborhood, or field site. This workshop pairs naturally with Fieldwork to Framework, offering an easy way to build on those outdoor routines, but it also works as a standalone experience for anyone eager to bring authentic community science into their classroom.
