2024 A Summer of Innovation- Discovery

The purpose of the Summer of Innovation summer program is to implement the STEM initiatives into more elementary schools through the training and hands-on availability of objectives with the teachers of the elementary students.  Objectives will include:  Partnering with the local elementary schools to foster an understanding of STEM opportunities which will be expanded into the elementary classroom. Develop the content, skills and practices of STEM disciplines that will prepare all students for future success in STEM college programs and/or careers. Develop the content, skills and practices of STEM disciplines that will prepare all teachers for their future teachings with success in STEM applications. Assisting students and teachers in understanding the connections between scientific inquiry and engineering. Building student confidence, strengthening their abilities to question, research, design, engineer and present solutions to local programs and issues.  Summer of Innovation “Inspiration Station” will develop concepts of engineering basics, the Laws of Motion and momentum. Summer of Innovation “Inspiration Station” will create an understanding of the application of physics to flight and space studies. Summer of Innovation “Inspiration Station” will implement structural engineering to the design and creation of rockets and robots from a design challenge.  Summer of Innovation “Imagination Station” will continue concepts of engineering through the Laws of Motion, rockets and robots from design challenges. Summer of Innovation “Imagination Station” will implement computer technology to the design of structures from computer programs such as Google SketchUp and SolidWorks. Summer of Innovation “Imagination Station” will implement concepts of buoyancy and density to the design and creation of an underwater ROV.
